About project: Lunar Campers, the reason to choose this name is because, lunar means the moon and campers means the people who like to camp and travel to a particular place. So lunar + campers = people who like to camp and travel on the moon. There are 5 astronauts who will stay for 6 months. The experiment we would like to carry out on the moon is to collect the regolith information. The astronauts who go to the moon would collect the lunar soil from various areas and depths, and then they would perform research on that. This tells that the moon is dark grey in color. So our experiment is to find the difference between the plant growing sand of Earth and the dark-grey dusty sand of the moon. The parts of our camp are the kitchen, rest room, bed room, water supply room, experiment room, and control room. The food that we supply on the moon is unique.

Where do you want to build your Moon Camp?

Close to the lunar poles

Why did you choose this location?

The lunar poles’ highlands help in providing constant sunlight for the growth of plants and solar energy. This also helps in easing the communication with Earth.
How do you plan to build your Mooncamp? Which materials will you use?

We plan to build it big and comfortable. The materials we will use are left over parts of previous moon missions and lunar regolith. It will be built by machines (AI-bots) and astronauts.

How do you plan to provide the astronauts with the follwoing things?

Water

We can supply water from Earth. There will be rockets which will regularly supply water from Earth via rockets.

Food

Packed food types we use are:
Rehydratable: foods are those which are dried and then rehydrates when hot water is mixed prior to consumption. Reducing the water content lessens the ability of microorganisms to grow.
Thermo stabilized: foods are heat processed which allows them to be stored at room temperature. Cans are used to thermostabilize most of the fruits and fishes. The cans can be opened with easy-open pull tabs.
Irradiated: foods are cooked and packaged in flexible foil pouches and treated by ionizing radiation. These foods can be kept at room temperature.

Electricity

Energy extracted using the sun’s light is called Solar energy. We are using photovoltaic cells to get the electrical energy from the sun’s light energy and run each and every part of our camp.

Air

Air is defined as the mixture of gases that surrounds the Earth and that people, animals and plants breathe. Our camp gets air supplied from Earth on regular rocket supply.

Protection

There are protective items to building a moon camp on the moon. Moon camp is air tight.

Describe a day on the Moon for one of your Moon Camp astronauts

Astronauts will wake up at 6:00 am in the morning.
The escape system will be cosy and strong. It can contain 5 astronauts. The time limit is 20 hours.
✓ Experiment astronauts (does experiments)
✓ Work astronauts (repairs)
